Need A Quote? Here’s Our Proposal Process.

What goes into a proposal.

So, you’ve decided to create a video for your marketing campaign. Excellent choice! But now the questions start piling up. What type of video do you need? Which visual style is the best fit for your brand? And of course, how much is this all going to cost?
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Our proposal process is specifically designed to answer these questions and many more. So what exactly goes into creating a proposal? Keep reading to find out!

The Purpose: Establishing Scope

Sometimes people ask why we don’t provide pricing on our website. The answer is that we approach every project differently based on what you are looking to accomplish. So while we can provide some rough estimates right away, we need more information about the scope of your project to offer a detailed quote.

For example, an internal training video is completely different from a promo video for social media, or an explainer video for a landing page. Even similar projects can be approached in a number of different ways. The entire point of preparing a proposal is so we can determine your specific goals, and then figure out the best way to achieve them given your priorities.

So here are the steps that we typically go through to prepare a proposal.

Step One: Quick Estimate

When you first contact us, we will set up a quick phone call (about 10 minutes) to learn a little about what you would like to accomplish, and the type of video you need. Based on this information we can provide some initial options with rough estimate ranges. If one of these options sounds like it might work for you, then we proceed to the next step: Discovery.

Step Two: Discovery

The better we understand your business and specific marketing goals, the more accurate a proposal we’ll deliver, and the more helpful our recommendations will be. That is why we spend about 30 minutes on a discovery call discussing all of the following points with your team:

  • What is the purpose of the project?
  • What are the key messages?
  • What tone needs to be achieved?
  • Where are target viewers in their buyer journey?
  • Where will the content be used?
  • What are the deadline and budget constraints?

This is our opportunity to not only better understand your company and project, but also who you’re trying to reach and why. The answers to these questions will help us develop a project that fits your company’s voice and engages the audience you are trying to reach.

Step Three: Proposal

Once we’ve gotten all the details, it’s time for us to prepare our recommendations based on the best way to achieve your goals within scope. We will come up with at least one concept direction for you to consider that will outline the overall approach we feel is a good fit for your project.

Our recommendations will also include a number of thoughts on video type, video run-time, visual style, and specific budget options. All told, we’ll normally get back to you within 2 to 3 days with the official proposal.

We’ll deliver our proposal and take you through all the details, inside and out. Then based on your feedback, we can adjust any factors you would like to see changed for a better fit.

Step Four: Project Kick-Off

Once we’re all on the same page, the final step is for you to select a concept direction and green-light the project; and that is where the fun really begins. From there we start working on creating your Commotion!

All of these steps help us create a fantastic video that not only looks great, but is designed to accomplish specific objectives for your organization.
